On your way inside, please stop and see your neighbors at Crown Hill Urban Village Committee for Smart Growth. We will have a table set up outside the gym for a neighbor meet and greet, and neighbors will be available to help answer questions and talk about our recommendations for smart growth in our community.
We will also be available to neighbors who are interested in sharing their story about how planned growth will impact them. We plan to have a volunteer record stories from neighbors that we will share with City Council. Over the last two years, we have heard from many neighbors with hopes and concerns for growth in our community.
- Seniors fear losing the supportive community and existing amenities that will allow them to age in place.
- Renters fear developers will replace their currently affordable older single family rental homes or apartments.
- Many neighbors welcome more density, particularly encouraged by redevelopment of areas along arterials that will replace large open parking lots with housing and storefronts.
- Most neighbors worry about lack of transit or infrastructure or sidewalks that may leave our neighborhood gridlocked without substantial upgrades and investments.
We hope to make sure community members who can not attend the public hearing on Monday March 12 can tell their stories and be heard.
