We all want a vibrant Crown Hill Urban Village community. There are many opportunities coming up to participate and learn more. Please join us.
What is an Urban Village?
Tuesday, July 26th from 6:00 – 7:45 pm in the Greenwood Library
The Crown Hill Urban Village Committee for Smart Growth is hosting a meeting with guest and City Planner Geoff Wentlandt from Seattle’s Office of Planning and Community Development. At the meeting we’ll learn more about urban villages, what they might look like, and how we as community members can influence the growth of our neighborhood, the Crown Hill Urban Village.
This meeting will include a discussion of a critical recommendation for smart growth: Concentrate density along our arterials and areas already zoned for growth rather than upzoning single family or expanding the urban village boundaries. We believe that with good urban planning we can meet the density goals of the city while creating a more vibrant and walkable neighborhood center for everyone. Join us to help visualize smart growth for our community.
Policy Update (and a Beverage)
Sunday July 31, 5:30 – 7:00 at the Thirsty Fish (9041 Holman Rd NW)
Are you confused about all of the news from City Hall about density and growth or intimidated to contact the council because you don’t quite know what to say? Interested in commenting at a public meeting before the City Council (there are important City Council meetings August 2 and August 16 at 9:30 AM, and your letters or presence at these hearings will help), but never done anything like it before? We can help.
Join us Sunday July 31st at the Thirsty Fish 5:30 – 7 pm. This is an informal gathering to ask questions, have a conversation and meet other neighbors interested in the policy behind density and growth. We’ll give you an overview of what is happening in the council and the policies being discussed that impact Crown Hill Urban Village. If you would like to join our intrepid cadre of neighbors who are have been doing a fantastic job making clear and impactful comments that have gotten the attention of the City Council, your next opportunity to speak up is August 2 and August 16 at 9:30 am.
Join us July 31st for help drafting your comments, or contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP. We are making progress on impacting legislation that impacts our homes and our neighborhood. We hope you will add your voice.
August 2nd: Neighbor Night Out
Neighbor Night Out is terrific opportunity to spread the word to your neighbors about the City’s plans for Crown Hill Urban Village and ways they can get involved. An email in advance to neighbors is a good way to introduce them to the issues and our website. This flyer links to our survey so your neighbors can get involved. Our general flyer is useful to provide background information. If you would like someone from the committee to come speak for 10 minutes and bring flyers, please email email@example.com. Or, we hope you will be our neighbor ambassador for your block and share this information directly. Sign up to be a neighbor ambassador here.
Survey deadline extended to August 5th
Thank you to everyone who has responded to our Survey for Smart Growth in Crown Hill Urban Village. Close to 300 neighbors have participated so far, and our neighborhood will have a powerful tool to help shape growth. We have extended the deadline to August 5th so we include neighbors who want to participate in the survey after Neighbor Night Out. Please continue to share this survey with you neighbors who live here in our neighborhood.
