“What’s an Urban Village?”
This question is often the first neighbors’ ask when they learn their home is within or near the Crown Hill Urban Village or expansion area. Since Whittier Heights, Loyal Heights, Greenwood, Crown Hill and Olympic Manor all have homes in the urban village; a lot of people are surprised to find they are considered residents of the Crown Hill Urban Village as well.
The Crown Hill Urban Village Committee for Smart Growth invites you to join your neighbors on Tuesday, July 26th from 6:00 – 7:45 pm in the Greenwood Library with Guest and City Planner Geoff Wentlandt from Seattle’s Office of Planning and Community Development to learn more about urban villages, what they might look like, and how we as community members can influence them.
The City’s presentation will cover basic information about Crown Hill Urban Village zoning and include renderings and descriptions of the types of multifamily housing and zoning changes that are being proposed in the UPzones. There will be time for questions and answers.
This meeting is also an opportunity to learn more about the Crown Hill Urban Village Committee for Smart Growth, a volunteer-driven partnership of your neighbors and neighborhood associations working to address these changes. We will briefly introduce our Committee, review our Recommendations for Smarter Growth in Crown Hill Urban Village and the potential expansion area; and introduce our new survey. We will also suggest ways you can get help by informing your neighbors during Neighbor Night Out Gatherings on August 2nd.
