Crown Hill Urban Village Committee for Smart Growth comments on Mandatory Housing Affordability (AKA the Grand Bargain) which seeks to have developers include affordable housing or pay a fee to the City for all new development, in exchange for Upzoning Single Family homes within Urban Villages to multifamily, and other changes.  The Council heard this issue in advance of developing framework legislation to implement this policy.

The Seattle Comprehensive Plan, Seattle 2035 is required by state law to guide and plan Seattle’s growth.  The current plan proposed by Mayor Ed Murray includes changes that allow for expanding the boundaries of many urban villages – including Crown Hill Urban Village, and to upzone all homes within the urban village to multifamily.  The Council is hearing this issue in a series of public hearings, and is scheduled to begin deliberating on amendments in August.

The Crown Hill Urban Village Committee for Smart Growth has submitted detailed comments to the City requesting that the city evaluate the impacts of substantial growth on our community on transit, utilities, infrastructure, and other impact in our neighborhood.
